Administrative Specialist / Office Administrator

Westminster Presbyterian Church is seeking a professional, friendly, and technologically skilled Administrative Specialist to serve as the primary point of communication for the church office.  The successful applicant will demonstrate the excellent organizational skills necessary to support the ministry and mission of the congregation. This position combines traditional office administration with modern communication and digital media responsibilities and plays a central role in the daily life of the church.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for church visitors, phone calls, and emails

  • Coordinate church communications, calendars, records, and office administration

  • Prepare weekly worship bulletins, including special worship materials and inserts

  • Assist the pastor, church staff, committees, and ministry teams with administrative support

  • Create and distribute weekly e-newsletters and church announcements

  • Maintain and update the church website and social media platforms

  • Create graphics and promotional materials using Canva or similar graphic design platforms

  • Assist with livestream and YouTube worship support

  • Coordinate facility scheduling, building use requests, and office operations

  • Maintain up-to-date demographic records and contact information for members

  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a welcoming presence in the church office

  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented

  • Proficient and experienced in using technology including digital media

  • Effective in managing multiple projects and deadlines

  • Friendly and professional in all communications

  • Skilled in written and verbal communication

  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively

Preferred Experience

Experience or familiarity with:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, basic Excel)

  • Canva or similar graphic design tools and platforms

  • Social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram

  • Email newsletters and digital communication tools

  • Website management platforms (Squarespace preferred)

  • YouTube or online video platforms

  • Church, nonprofit, or ministry settings is helpful but not required

Schedule & Compensation

  • Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (flexible)

Compensation:

  • Starting wage approximately $17.50/hour during introductory period

  • Increase to approximately $18.00/hour following successful completion of a 90-day review period
    (Final compensation and schedule to be determined.)

Additional Information

  • 90-day introductory evaluation and annual reviews thereafter
